Although he has been serving churches in various capacities since 2009, Rev. Adam Penn has been an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church since July of 2017. He grew up in the Peoria, IL area, where he met his wife, Jessica, his senior year of high school. They married in 2011, and Jessica worked as a sign language interpreter while Adam was finishing his BA in Human Resources at Illinois State University. They then moved to Dubuque, IA, where Adam graduated in May 2015 from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary with his Master's in Divinity. Adam and Jessica have two sons: Levi and Judah.
Pastor Adam has a heart for teaching and preaching Scripture in relevant and engaging ways, leading worship, making disciples, and helping God’s people live into their call to be salt and light in their communities and in the world. He understands himself to be appointed to both the church and community, and values involvement in school and community activities.
In his spare time, Adam enjoys outdoor activities with his family, like hiking, biking, and watersports. During baseball season, things get a little tense in the Penn household, as he is a Cardinals fan, and Jessica is a Cubs fan. Adam also enjoys reading, working out, watching The Office, and making music in his home recording studio. He and Jessica are in a band called Harbor at Sea, whose "Better Things" EP is available on iTunes and Spotify.
